In December, Rico Lopez ’14 was recognized for his piece, “The Global Slide from Democracy: Time to Wake Up,” as one of four winners of the Arch J. Roberts essay/reporting contest for high school and college students. The award was launched by News-Decoder, a non-profit news service for millennials. Rico, a senior at The Thacher School in California, is the editor-in-chief of the school's newspaper, The Notes.
