Getting ready for SADL
The space that your child learns during the launch of SADL will be the first step towards making this experience a success. We know that every home is different and, more importantly, every child has different needs, so the recommendations below are just that - suggestions to support your learner within the constraints of your home environment.
Along with the consideration of space, we recommend setting up routines that best fit your family’s schedule. Students thrive on structure and predictability.
The quicker these can be established, the more immediate the successes.

Once we have started
- How will I be able to connect with my student’s teachers?
-
Teachers will continue to be available to families via email. We will strive to respond within 24 hours, though often responses will be much quicker. Please make sure to email both the lead and assistant homeroom teachers so that your students can be quickly and well supported.
- How can I learn about my child’s progress?
-
There are three ways to learn about your child’s progress: from your child directly, from the data our online tools generate, and from teacher feedback. The tools and technology we are using allow for quick and frequent feedback to students so know that we will be taking full advantage of these new avenues of communication.
Given that learning will take place in your home, your partnership is very welcome. We hope to learn as much from your observations as we will from ours. Open lines of communication will continue to be foundational to our educational approach.
