Second Grade Homework: May 8-12, 2017

The special week is run by Student Council.

 

This week for spelling we are learning words with –tion. The syllable -tion is a suffix.

our spelling words: fraction, nation, motion, question, solution, addition, condition, direction, subtraction, information

tricky word : brought, bought

3rd trimester words: dehydration, communication

 

Monday night:

  1. Read the word cards. Put the cards in alphabetical order.  Write the ten spelling words in ABC order on the paper your teacher sent home. Then, with your family, brainstorm 10-12 more words that contain –tion. Write that list on the sheet also. We will compile our lists tomorrow at school. Wow! It will be a long list of –tion words.
  2. Read in a “just right” book and start coloring in the squares on your sheet tonight!
  3. MAD Week: Tomorrow is Tacky Tourist Tuesday!

 

Tuesday night:

  1. Complete the telling time practice sheet we sent home.
  2. Read in a “just right” book, color in the squares on your sheet, and study your

spelling words.

  1. MAD Week: Tomorrow is Favorite Sports Team day! Hats are welcome but

not inside.

 

Wednesday night:

  1. A Make a Schedule sheet was sent home today. We did one in class together and now you will make one on your own. Choose a day of the week. It can be a school day or a weekend day. Plan a schedule, fill in the times in the little boxes, draw pictures to go with your plans. Have fun. Be creative. Be thorough.
  2. Read in a “just right” book, color in the squares on your sheet, and study your spelling words.
  3. MAD Week: Tomorrow is Color War day. Second grade’s color is white.

 

Thursday night:

  1. Tomorrow is Field Day. Organize your gear! No formal homework.
  2. Read in a “just right” book, color in the squares on your sheet, and study your spelling words.
