Pilar Allen

2nd Grade Assistant Teacher
Pilar is a proud Colorado Native. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and is a graduate of Regis University. Pilar loves assisting in Ms. Russell's 2nd grade classroom and especially enjoys when their students have "aha moments." When she's not on the beautiful grounds of St. Anne's, you will catch her spending quality time with her family, cozied up with a good book or playing American Mahjong.

Rich Amend

8th Grade Humanities Teacher, 8th Grade Advisor

Rich has a BA in Economics from Hamilton College. Prior to moving to Denver, Rich's career path included a stint in private equity, some time as an actor and musician in LA, and a few years as a staff writer on a Warner Bros. sitcom. He is the proud father of Clementine, SAES '20. Rich and his wife live in Park Hill. They chose St. Anne's because of the joy, kindness, and serenity that permeate the campus and inform the community. Rich's favorite children's book is anything starring Curious George.

Daniela Amistadi

5th-8th Grade Spanish Teacher
Daniela holds two Bachelor’s degrees and international certifications in legal translation and language teaching. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, she moved to Portland, Oregon in 2019. With 19 years in education, Daniela is passionate about the mutual learning that occurs in teaching and values the growth it fosters for both students and herself.

She feels that fate led her to St. Anne’s; the school’s values and welcoming community made her decision to move to Denver an easy one. Daniela's favorite books include Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, The Color Purple by Alice Walker, and My Sweet Orange Tree by José Mauro de Vasconcelos. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, traveling, going to the theater, and hiking.






Krisy Artz

Technology Coordinator
Kristyna is a veteran educator with a passion for empowering students and teachers alike. After earning an Elementary Education degree from Oral Roberts University and spending over 13 years in first through sixth grade classrooms, she earned a master's in Information and Learning Technologies from CU Denver.

She loves teaching and learning alongside the future leaders and innovators of tomorrow. She is inspired by the opportunity to collaborate with teachers, embracing technology as a powerful tool for enhancing learning experiences.

When she isn't teaching, she enjoys exploring the great outdoors, spending time with her daughters, and traveling to new and old places. She never passes up an opportunity to read her favorite children's book, Giraffes Can't Dance or enjoying all the beauty St. Anne's has to offer.

Chris Bennett

Chief Financial Officer
Chris earned both his Bachelor’s and MBA degrees from the University of Denver. He loves his job at St. Anne’s because he gets to work with wonderful colleagues and witness the joy in kids every day. His favorite children’s book is Roberto the Insect Architect. Chris's special talent is that he can juggle.

Wendi Berardi

Director of Enrollment Management

Wendi graduated from St. Mary's College of California with a B.A. in Organizational Leadership. She has the privilege of showcasing St. Anne’s to prospective parents and students, enjoying the variety and freshness that each day brings. Inspired by the history of the Sisters caring for children with polio, Wendi feels a deep connection to St. Anne's and believes it chose her. Her favorite children's book is The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy, which speaks to her belief that "home" can be defined by time with close friends who bring joy and laughter. In her free time, she enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and searching for the best donut or cupcake shop in the Denver Metro area.

Stephen Bertles

Theatre Arts Teacher, Fine Arts Dept. Chair, 6th Grade Advisor

Stephen’s journey began with performing in various theaters and on cruise ships before he returned to college at Metropolitan State University of Denver. From a young age, Stephen knew he wanted to be both a performer and a teacher. Now, his dream has come full circle, and he absolutely loves coming into work every day. Walking onto the St. Anne’s campus brings him a sense of calm, affirming that he is exactly where he is meant to be. Choosing St. Anne’s was an easy decision in his career, and he feels grateful for it every day. His favorite childhood book is Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, which he loved for its imaginative illustrations. Stephen’s hobbies and special talents include playing pickleball and Mahjong.






Deb Bishop

8th Grade Science Teacher, Science Dept. Chair, 8th Grade Advisor

Deb Bishop is thrilled to be teaching science at St. Anne's Episcopal School. Originally from Michigan, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Oakland University before moving to Colorado in the summer of 1998 to begin her teaching career in Littleton. Deb joined St. Anne’s in 2011, where she currently teaches 8th grade science, leads intramurals, and serves as the 8th grade advisor and science department chair. She enjoys spending her free time with her two daughters, Mikenzi and Isabella, and their dogs—Bentley, Queenie, Nova, and Zeus—exploring all the wonderful outdoor activities Colorado has to offer.

Annie Blakslee

2nd Grade Assistant Teacher
Annie graduated from Bates College with a degree in Education and Environmental Studies. After completing her studies, she taught social-emotional learning to students in a rural K-8 school in Maine and then at a preschool in Boston. Annie feels fortunate to have returned to her home state of Colorado and become a part of the St. Anne’s community. In her free time, she enjoys cross-country skiing, hiking, and spending time with her family.

Morgan Boaman

Director of Outdoor Education
Morgan holds a B.A. from Fort Lewis College in Environmental Studies and a M.S. from Colorado State University in Conservation Leadership. She was thrilled to join the St Anne's team in 2023 as the Director of Outdoor Education and is continually inspired by the magic that can happen when classroom education and outdoor education meet. Her favorite part of her job is planning and running the OE trips for students! Morgan's favorite children's book is The Lorax, and many groups of students have sat around the SAITH campfire ring and listened to her read it. When she's not running around outside with students Morgan enjoys photography, hiking, snowboarding, camping, and exploring the beauty of Colorado with her two dogs and husband.

Adair Brenneman

Administrative Aide
Adair attended the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada, where she earned a degree in Kinesiology (HBA). She taught Social Studies to 5th graders at St. Anne's Episcopal School for 13 years, cherishing the curiosity of the children and their enthusiasm for history-related projects and playacting. Now working part-time in Administration as an Administrative Aide, Adair enjoys her current role and the people she works with. She fondly recalls the many good friends she made during her teaching years at SAES and appreciates the continued connections with retired friends.

Adair has always loved the history, beauty, and setting of St. Anne's, which reminds her of the school she attended in Canada as a child, with its similar traditions like Chapel and May Day, beautiful gardens, and interesting history.

Her favorite children’s book is The Velveteen Rabbit, a nod to her eldest daughter’s beloved stuffed rabbit, Loppy, and the subsequent live rabbit of the same name. Adair is an avid gardener who spends hours in the garden, enjoys cooking and trying new recipes, and loves walking and hiking with her service dog, Westy. She is also a proud Glamma to her three busy grandchildren, which keeps her on her toes. Adair enjoys traveling, has a lengthy bucket list of destinations, and loves live theater and musicals. Each summer, she visits family at their cottages in Northern Ontario, Canada, where she fondly remembers the summers of her childhood spent swimming, biking, building sand forts, and running free.


Anna Burnett

PS/PK Assistant Teacher
Anna graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. She loves working with young children at St. Anne's because it's a crucial time for nurturing their growth into caring and compassionate individuals. Anna chose St. Anne's after observing the genuine happiness of the teachers and the school's strong commitment to fostering good character. Her favorite children's book from childhood is The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats, and she currently enjoys Giraffes Can't Dance by Giles Andreae.

Jessica Cardenas

Kindergarten-3rd Grade Art Teacher
Jessica is grateful that her journey led her to St. Anne’s, where she feels she was meant to be. She originally earned her art degree at Colorado State University and used it in various roles before managing the digital side of a company running portrait studios in California. While photographing families and children, she realized her true passion was in teaching, leading her to return to school for a teaching credential—a dream she had long considered.

With years of experience as a reading and classroom teacher, Jessica was drawn to St. Anne’s by its welcoming community, beautiful campus, and rich history. She loves being part of a place where she can teach and witness young creatives experimenting with and absorbing the gifts of art.

One of Jessica’s unique talents is her ability to put her dog, Gato, to sleep in under a minute simply by rubbing her paws, though she humorously suspects Gato might be narcoleptic.

Erin Cody

Kindergarten Teacher
Erin attended the University of Vermont for her undergraduate degree and holds a Master's degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver. As a kindergarten teacher, she cherishes the excitement and enthusiasm the children bring to school each day. Erin also enjoys connecting with colleagues both inside and outside of school. Her hobbies include ice hockey, skiing, biking, hiking, and softball.

Karianne Cook

Jeff graduated with a Business degree from La Salle University in Philadelphia. He loves connecting with students and seeing their excitement as they learn and grow. Sixteen years ago, he moved from Maui to Denver to work at St. Anne's, knowing it was a special place from the moment he first stepped onto campus. Jeff's favorite children's book is My Lucky Day by Keiko Kasza. In his free time, he enjoys riding his bike, hiking with his family, walking their dog, and snowboarding.

Emily is excited to begin her third year at St. Anne's, where she enjoys being part of the vibrant community. Originally from Connecticut, she earned her degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education from the University of Vermont. Emily also holds a master’s degree as a Literacy Specialist from Manhattanville College. She particularly values building lasting relationships with her students and their families, and she loves working with the 1st-grade team. Outside of school, Emily takes full advantage of Colorado’s outdoor offerings, including skiing and hiking. Her favorite children’s book is Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.

Maria Escobedo

Preschool - 4th Grade Spanish Teacher
Maria holds a BA in Psychology and an MS in Education from California State University Los Angeles, along with a Primary Montessori Teaching Certificate. With over 10 years of experience teaching Spanish, Maria is passionate about language education and is most inspired by children’s awe and curiosity about the world. Maria joined St. Anne’s in 2023 and loves St. Anne’s inclusive community and focus on character education. Maria’s favorite children's book is Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. Originally from Los Angeles, California, she now lives in Denver with her husband and two daughters. In her free time, Maria enjoys traveling, hiking, and yoga, often sharing these adventures with her family.

John Fitzgerald

John holds a B.A. in English from Williams College, an MBA from the University of Denver, and a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Business School. He loves that his job provides the opportunity to impact the future every day through working with kids and in schools. His favorite children's book is The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his family, staying active and outdoors, cooking, and reading whenever he can.

Trina Ford

Trina holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Education in Elementary from the University of Alberta and the University of Victoria, respectively. She also earned a Master of Science in Special Education from Portland State University and a Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Trina finds joy in watching students tackle challenges and take pride in their progress. The moment she stepped onto the St. Anne's campus, she felt it was the right place for her. Her favorite children’s book is What Do You Do With a Problem? by Kobi Yamada. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking with her husband and dog, caring for her plants, and pursuing her love of learning.

Emily earned her B.A. from Colby College. She loves working with her team and cherishes the connections she builds with St. Anne's parents. Emily chose St. Anne's because of the kindness and well-rounded nature she observed in everyone she knew who had attended the school. Her favorite children's books are the Berenstain Bears series.

Lori Frank

Assistant Head of School
Lori joined St. Anne’s in 1987 and holds a B.A. in English Education and an M.A. in English from Northern Illinois University. With 42 years in education, she values the people at St. Anne’s, considering them like an extended family, and loves working with amazing colleagues and special families. Lori knew from Kindergarten that she wanted to be a teacher, a passion rooted in her love for school as a child. Although she’s not currently in the classroom, she enjoys being around teachers, students, and parents every day. Outside of school, Lori enjoys reading, scrapbooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. If she were stuck on an island, she would bring The Norton Anthology of English Literature as her favorite book. Her favorite children's book is Love You Forever by Robert Munsch.

Cara holds a B.A. in Social Sciences: Early Childhood Development from the University of Buffalo, an M.S. in Childhood Education and Literacy Education from Long Island University C.W. Post Campus, and an Advanced Certificate in School Building Leadership from St. John's University. She chose St. Anne's because of its inclusive and warm community. Geenie Gartland

3rd Grade Teacher, Lower School Language Arts Dept. Chair (3rd-5th)
Geenie holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and earned her Master of Education in Reading from Regis University. She finds immense joy in inspiring young minds and witnessing their growth over the year, especially as they develop a love for learning. Geenie chose St. Anne's for its strong sense of community and commitment to a well-rounded education, which supports her in nurturing each child's unique strengths. Her favorite children's book is The Giving Tree for its heartfelt message that resonates with both children and adults. Outside of work, Geenie enjoys reading, traveling, and particularly visiting Disney World.

Don Gifford

Preschool -5th Grade Science Teacher
Don attended Lake Forest College for his undergraduate degree and Antioch New England for graduate school. He began his career at St. Anne's in 1994 after leaving New England. Both of his children attended St. Anne's from preschool through 8th grade and cherished their time on campus. Don is an avid fisherman, enjoys cooking, and, though he admits reluctantly, enjoys hiking with his wife, Julie, and their two dogs.

Joan Gilbert

Kindergarten -3rd Grade Music Teacher, Chapel
Joan has a BA in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has completed Levels I and II of the Orff Schulwerk training and is an active member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Orff Shulwerk Association. I love everything to do with singing, dancing, and all the ensembles and performances here in our wonderful St. Anne's community.

Joan had subbed quite a bit at SAES in various grades and subjects and was made aware of an opening in the music department in early August of 2006. She has loved every year playing in the Music department.

In addition to playing and listening to music, Mrs. Gilbert loves traveling with her two adult daughters, being outside in the natural world, gardening, reading, and cooking.


Kim Grant

4th Grade Teacher
Kim attended Arizona State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She loves so many aspects of her job at St. Anne’s, including the supportive community, the dedication of the families, and the camaraderie among the faculty and staff. Her favorite children’s book is The BFG by Roald Dahl, though she has many favorites. While she might not think of her talents as “special,” Kim enjoys staying active with running, biking, swimming, and yoga. She also loves to read and bake cookies.

Amy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Middlebury College. She joined St. Anne's in 2016 as a 5th-grade assistant teacher and was immediately drawn to the supportive and kind community of colleagues, families, and students. St. Anne's reminds her of the PK-8 school she attended in her hometown near Chicago. Her favorite children's book is Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Amy enjoys spending time in the mountains, playing yard games, knitting hats, and being with her family. She also has a background in volleyball and a cappella singing from her college days.

Matt Howard

Maintenance
Matt earned his B.S. in Marketing and Management from the University of Colorado and is a Certified ISA Arborist. He enjoys working in St. Anne's beautiful gardens, maintaining grounds rich in history and meaning. Outside of St. Anne’s, Matt coaches youth hockey and works with his family to introduce ice hockey to underserved communities in Denver that lack access to the sport.

Cynthia Hunnewell

Lower School Learning Specialist (grades 3-5), Learning Services Dept. Chair
Cynthia earned her BA from Gettysburg College in 1992 and an EdM in Language and Literacy Development from Harvard Graduate School of Education in 1998. She is passionate about helping her students learn to read and become independent, building their confidence, and fostering a love of learning. Her favorite children’s book is Charlotte’s Web. Outside of school, Cynthia enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach, reading, walking her dog, and working out on the Peloton.

Karen earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and her Master’s degree from the University of Maryland. Having had both of her daughters attend St. Anne's, she was inspired by the community to return as an employee.

Karey James

5th Grade Teacher
Karey holds a Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Science from Metropolitan State University and a Master’s of Arts in Teaching-Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado. She loves working with the staff, students, and families at St. Anne’s, appreciating the fun and welcoming community the school offers.

Her favorite children's book is The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. In her free time, Karey enjoys traveling, watching and discussing movies, and trying out new restaurants.

Sami attended Ohio State University, where she earned a B.A. in Mathematics and an M.Ed. in Teaching and Learning. Eloise Johnson '02

Eloise earned her Master’s in Elementary Education from Loyola University of Chicago. She loves working with young learners, helping them develop a love of learning, and finds their humor an added bonus. St. Anne’s holds a special place in her heart, as she is a graduate from the class of 2002. She feels grateful to give back to the community that supported her during her early years. Outside of the classroom, Eloise enjoys spending time outdoors, including hiking and paddle boarding, and cherishes moments with her family.

Patty Jordan

P.E.
Patty attended Metropolitan State University in Denver, where she earned a BA in K-12 Education. She loves the relationships she has developed with students over the years and takes great joy in seeing them grow from kindergarten through to their transition beyond 8th grade. Patty initially chose St. Anne’s because it seemed like a great place to teach, but over the years, she has come to deeply appreciate the community and camaraderie she feels with everyone at St. Anne’s. Her favorite children’s book is Babar. Patty enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, pickleball, gardening, and generally spending time outdoors.

Sharon Kennedy

Executive Assistant to the Head of School
Sharon holds an Associate’s Degree in Business and is currently working towards her Bachelor’s in Human Resource Management. She loves her role for the opportunity it gives her to connect with and support the incredible faculty and staff at St. Anne’s, a place she describes as joyful. Her favorite children's book is Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes. Outside of work, Sharon enjoys baking, doing crafts, and playing board games with her children.

Ana Khlopina

School Chaplain
Chaplain Ana graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, in 2018 with a BA in International Business and Social Entrepreneurship. She earned a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York, NY, in 2023. She loves engaging with students of all ages on big, often unanswerable questions, appreciating how even the youngest are profound theologians. She enjoys nurturing curiosity and inviting love, joy, and wisdom into her work.

At St. Anne's, Chaplain Ana is involved in imagining and leading chapel services and enhancing the impact of service learning. She chose St. Anne's for its history and the compassion, kindness, and humility that continue to guide the community. Her favorite sport is volleyball, and she is eager to coach anyone interested. She is bilingual in Russian and English, knows a bit of French, and hopes to become fluent in Spanish by the time she is ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church (God willing).

Alyssa Kitts '04

3rd Grade Teacher
Alyssa attended the University of Colorado-Boulder for her undergraduate studies and the University of Colorado-Denver for graduate school. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and Elementary Education, as well as a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Literacy. Alyssa has a deep love for her colleagues, students, and the learning opportunities her students bring each day. As a St. Anne’s alum, she returned because of the strong sense of community and the lasting impact her teachers made on her, which she now aims to pass on to her own students. Her favorite children's book is Maybe by Kobi Yamada. In her free time, Alyssa enjoys fishing, hiking, and reading. When she’s not teaching, she can be found in Boulder with her family, cheering on her beloved Buffaloes and spending time with her two children, Cotton and Freddie.

Matthew Krause

5th - 8th Grade Spanish Teacher, World Language Dept. Chair, 8th Grade Advisor
Matt is in his eighth year of teaching at St. Anne’s and his 18th year overall in education. He is passionate about teaching languages and looks forward to getting to know his students. Growing up in Denver, Matt started studying Spanish in sixth grade at Kent Denver and never stopped. A trip to visit his brother in Chile during his junior year at East High School sparked his deep love for the Spanish language and culture, shaping his life's path.

He went on to study Spanish literature at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he earned his B.A., followed by an M.A. in Teaching with an emphasis on Spanish. During his college years, Matt also traveled extensively, spending three months in Central America and five months in South America.

Outside of the classroom, Matt enjoys camping, hiking, riding his bike, cooking, playing sports, and traveling. He cherishes time with his family, which includes his wife Rosalyn, their son Max (1st grade), daughter Skylar (2 years old), and their dog Moose.

Maggie Kuk

7th Grade Social Studies Teacher, 7th Grade Coordinator/Advisor, Project 8
Maggie holds a B.A. from American University and an M.A. from the University of Colorado-Denver. She is passionate about building lasting relationships with her students and chose St. Anne’s for its welcoming community. Her favorite children's book is Ferdinand. In her free time, Maggie enjoys reading, baking, and traveling.

Bill Lane

5th Grade Teacher
Bill graduated from Fordham University in 1980 and earned his master’s degree from Leslie College in 1984. Growing up, his favorite books were The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. He enjoys playing guitar, riding his bike, and paddling his kayak.

Mike Lechuga

6th - 8th Grade Math Teacher, MS Math Dept. Chair, 7th Grade Advisor

Mike Lechuga is a Colorado native with 35 years of experience in middle school education. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Regis University and a Master’s in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix.

Mike and his wife have four daughters, a dog, a chicken, koi fish, and enjoy visits from mule deer at their homestead. In his spare time, he plays golf, hikes, travels, writes poetry, and coaches special needs adults with Special Olympics Colorado. Andy Levine

6th Grade English Teacher, 6th Grade Coordinator, Yearbook
Andy holds a B.A. from Fort Lewis College and an M.Ed. from Regis Jesuit College. He loves being in the classroom, sharing knowledge, engaging in critical thinking, and discussing books. Andy is passionate about writing and crafting well-written essays, and he couldn’t see himself doing anything else. He finds the community at St. Anne’s incredible and feels fortunate to be a part of it, having always been drawn to independent schools. Andy’s current favorite books are The Wilderness of Girls by Madeline Claire Franklin and Gone Wolf by Amber McBride. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, listening to music, attending shows, playing water polo, swimming, and reading.

Roxanne Malia

7th Grade English Teacher, 7th Grade Advisor
Roxanne Banks Malia is a daughter, wife, mother, poet, educator, and youth advocate. She chose St Anne's because she believes it's the best place for youth to develop empathy, resilience, and a sense of community and belonging. Before joining St Anne's, she was the director of youth and community programs at the literary arts nonprofit, Lighthouse Writers Workshop. Before that, she taught English and creative writing in high school and college classrooms, served as the literacy program coordinator at a local high school, and was a stay-at-home mom. Her poems have appeared in Copper Nickel, CutBank, DIAGRAM, and elsewhere. The anthology she co-edited, All the Lives We Ever Lived, Vol. 2 (Lighthouse Writers Workshop), was nominated for the 2022 Colorado Book Award. Her film productions have appeared on Colorado's PBS12. As an undergraduate, Roxanne attended St Olaf College, and received her MA in Education from the University of Colorado Denver, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Lesley University.

Ashley McCollum

Lower School Learning Specialist, LS Language Arts Dept. Chair (PS-2nd)

Ashley attended California State University, Long Beach, for her undergraduate studies and Regis University for graduate school, earning a B.A. in Psychology and an M.Ed. in Reading. She loves learning from her students and supporting them in mastering one of life’s most valuable skills: reading! Ashley feels fortunate to be at St. Anne’s, where she works with respected colleagues, hilarious students, and supportive families, all on a campus filled with beautiful trees and flowers that often catch her eye.

Her top two favorite children’s books are Winnie-the-Pooh and The Story of Ferdinand. Outside of school, Ashley enjoys cross-stitching while listening to audiobooks or podcasts. She also loves spending time with her children, Casey and Amelia, especially while watching Survivor. Her favorite place to be is in a hammock by a creek in the mountains, with a good book.

 

Kate McFee

First Grade Teacher
Kate attended the University of Colorado, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Japanese and her master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in literacy. She also completed an Orton-Gillingham practicum with a two-year observation period. Kate enjoys spending time outdoors, whether skiing, hiking, or simply being in nature. She is passionate about learning and strives to help students understand and embrace their unique gifts. She truly loves her job!

Maura McGowan

Middle School Counselor
Maura earned her B.S. in Human Development from Virginia Tech and her M.Ed. in School Counseling from West Chester University. She is also an LPCC (Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate). Maura loves being a safe space for the community and enjoys the variety that each day brings, as she interacts with students, parents, and teachers. She chose St. Anne’s for its supportive community and leadership team, feeling welcomed even during the interview process. St. Anne’s has helped her feel more at home in Denver. When not working, Maura enjoys traveling, being outdoors, or napping. She loves taking her dog, Maple, for walks and cooking delicious meals for friends.

Reeny McKleroy

P.E., Director of Athletics
Reeny holds a B.A. degree and finds that the best part of her job is the kids. She feels that St. Anne's chose her, and she is grateful to be a part of the community. Her hobbies include cooking, eating, enjoying friendships, and watching all kinds of sports.

Erin Menard

5th - 8th Grade French Teacher, 8th Grade Advisor
Bonjour! Erin teaches French to 5th-8th graders, serves as an 8th-grade advisor, and coaches middle school sports. Her passion for the French language and culture began during high school when she traveled to Lille, France through the Rotary Exchange Program. She later returned to live in France while attending St. Louis University and worked as an English teacher in Lyon, where she taught both children and adults. This is her 14th year at St. Anne’s, and she is the proud mother of two St. Anne’s alumni (class of 2022). Erin has led three student trips to Paris and Carcassonne during her time at the school. Outside of teaching, she enjoys gardening, playing the cello, and spending time with her family. Erin loves working at St. Anne’s because of its rich history, curious students, and the camaraderie of the teachers.

Margaret Mitchell '90

Head of Middle School
Margaret has a Bachelor's in English Literature from Princeton University and a Master's in English Literature from Boston University. She loves working with middle school students and teachers for many reasons; every day is interesting and challenging. Middle schoolers are amazing, and Margaret enjoys believing in them and helping them become their fullest and best selves. As an alumna of St. Anne's, she has known the school for a long time and finds joy in continuing the work of the many educators before her. St. Anne's feels like a second home, and she values the school's guiding principles. Her favorite children's book is Goodnight, Moon by Margaret Wise Brown. Margaret loves spending time with her family and being outdoors in nature, whether hiking, camping, or skiing—any day outside is a good day!

Joy Munroe

5th Grade Assistant Teacher
Joy, a Colorado native, left the state to attend The University of Tulsa. Now back in Colorado, she is excited to be part of the St. Anne’s family. Joy has three kids, two dogs, and a husband. They love playing pickleball, board games, and cheering on local sports teams.

Pat has a Bachelor's in English Literature from Princeton University and a Master's in English Literature from Boston University. She loves working with middle school students and teachers for numerous reasons; every day brings new challenges and opportunities. Liz Nichols

Liz earned her undergraduate degree in Social Work from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and her Master’s in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. She is currently pursuing an Early Literacy Certificate from the University of Colorado, Denver. Liz loves working with preschoolers because of their joy, honesty, and enthusiasm for school. Her family has been part of the St. Anne’s community for years, with both of her children attending the school. Liz appreciates how St. Anne's consistently chooses kindness and supports students from a place of strength. Although she has many favorite children's books, she particularly enjoys Buffalo Fluffalo and Thank You, Omu! Outside the classroom, Liz loves trying new recipes and camping with her family across Colorado and the National Parks.

Christy attended the University of Denver and holds a graduate degree in Elementary Education. She loves working with PreK children because their natural curiosity brings joy and smiles every day. Anne graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She loves teaching because it allows her to foster a love of learning in students from a young age. Each day in the classroom is a new adventure, and she is excited to be a part of each child’s educational journey. Her favorite children’s book is I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont, which reflects the joy and self-confidence she aims to nurture in her students daily.

Jen Overly

Jen attended The Ohio State University and Ohio Dominican University, earning a B.S. in Education. She chose St. Anne's because it is a place that cherishes children and provides a nurturing environment while preparing them for their next steps.

Her favorite book is A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle. Outside of school, Jen and her husband are avid fans of college football and lacrosse, and they also enjoy attending live music events.

Laura Park

4th Grade Assistant Teacher
Laura graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor of Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts. She takes pleasure in watching her students grow in knowledge throughout the year. Laura chose St. Anne's because of its warm and welcoming environment. Her talent is singing, and her hobbies include reading and running.

Marcia Pearce

Marcia was a 5th-grade library assistant and has loved books and education ever since. She attended the University of Florida to study journalism and communications and the University of South Florida for a Master’s of Library and Information Science. Marcia and her husband are restoring a vintage VW Camper named MoonPie.

Carey Radochonski

1st Grade Assistant Teacher
Carey graduated from the University of Vermont and Colorado State University with a degree in Sociology. She loves working with children and witnessing their individual growth. Carey chose St. Anne's because it is a kind, supportive, and nurturing school. Her favorite children's book is The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. Carey enjoys being active outdoors, including paddleboarding, playing pickleball, visiting the beach, and hiking, as well as spending time with her family.

Rene Reynolds

Director of Human Resources

Rene joined St. Anne's in 2022 as the first ever Director of Human Resources. She holds an SPHR certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI). Rene has supported the HR function in many different industries, but joined St. Anne's because of the warm and welcoming community. The part she enjoys most about her job is being able to help people. Growing up, Rene's favorite children's book was "The Care Bears and the Terrible Two's". She credits this book to teaching her how to read because she made a family member read it to her daily!

Rene enjoys spending time with family and singing in her church choir.

Charlotte Robinson

Lower School Learning Specialist
Charlotte earned a B.S. in Geology and a degree in Outdoor Education from the University of Alabama. Originally from New Orleans, LA, she was introduced to St. Anne's by John Comfort, her former headmaster at St. Martin's Episcopal School. When Charlotte visited him at St. Anne's in 1985, he offered her a position teaching P.E., as she was struggling to find a job in the oil industry. She fell in love with the St. Anne's community and decided to pursue her teaching certificate and a master’s degree in Educational Psychology. Her favorite children’s book is Curious George. Charlotte enjoys swimming, biking, hiking, and spending time outdoors. Her passion for the outdoors led her to start a non-profit, Adventures Within, to provide outdoor experiences for individuals with Multiple Sclerosis. This organization is now operated by the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center.

Elizabeth Robinson

Design Thinking and Innovations Teacher, 6th Grade Advisor
Elizabeth's passion for Design Thinking began during her time at Fort Lewis College in Durango, where she earned her bachelor's degree. At St. Anne's, she has had the chance to grow in her practice and support students as they develop their skills as engineers, designers, and problem-solvers. Her favorite children's book is Eloise, and she still owns the entire collection. Elizabeth lives in Denver with her husband and enjoys spending time in the mountains, traveling, skiing, golfing, cooking, and being with her family.

Miriah Royal

Director of Community Belonging and Engagement
Miriah Royal (she/her) has always been deeply committed to fostering inclusive communities, tracing her dedication back to her pre-professional days. Driven by a belief that social justice is a collective effort, she channels her passion through service, collaboration, and intentional programming. As the Director of Community Belonging & Engagement at St. Anne's Episcopal School, Miriah continues to build on her experience from her previous roles in and outside independent schools. Miriah's dedication to social justice extends beyond her professional life. She volunteers as a faculty member of the S.T.A.M.P conference, serves as the founder of Emboldened Ventures, a consulting company dedicated to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion for the outdoor industry, and actively contributes as a Board member of the Museum of Food and Culture. Miriah's journey demonstrates an unwavering commitment to shaping a more just, equitable, and loving world—one community at a time.

Jennie Ruport

Director of Development
Jennie holds a B.A. from Denison University. She believes St. Anne's is a wonderful school that values hard work, compassion, and fun, making each day at work feel like a gift. Her favorite children's book is The Little Engine That Could. Jennie enjoys all that Colorado has to offer, such as hiking, mountain and dirt biking, and exploring, but she especially loves spending time with her energetic and wonderful family, including her two boys and husband.

Casey Russell

2nd Grade Teacher
Casey earned her Bachelor's in Communication from the University of New Mexico and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from the College of Santa Fe. She also holds a Certificate in Primary Reading from the University of Colorado. She thrives on witnessing a student's "ah-ha" moment—when their understanding comes into focus and everything clicks. Casey chose St. Anne's for its outstanding reputation as a welcoming and supportive community dedicated to student success and character development. She has a deep love for children's literature and enjoys helping students discover books that excite them. Outside of school, Casey is an avid runner, with twenty marathons under her belt as her favorite distance.

Nancy Seavall

Nancy earned her B.S. from the University of Arizona, majoring in Communications with minors in Psychology and Political Science. She chose St. Anne’s because of the wonderful people, the beautiful setting, and the incredible families who send their children there. Her favorite children's book is Loveykins by Quentin Blake. Nancy used to be a ski instructor and loves skiing, attending concerts, and spending time with her family.

Rick Sigler

4th - 8th Grade Art Teacher
Rick attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, and also studied at Adams State College and Metro State College. He spent some time in Paris studying at museums, which further enriched his artistic journey. Before becoming a teacher, Rick had several careers, but teaching art became his ideal path when his first child was born. He used to showcase his gargoyles in galleries across Denver, Boulder, and Taos, and continues to sell paintings occasionally. Rick is a dedicated gym enthusiast and was deeply involved in coaching youth sports teams for his children. He joined St. Anne’s after being recommended by another art teacher and was hired by John Comfort. Now, with thirty-eight years at St. Anne's, he continues to cherish his time at the school, where he loves teaching and working with children.

Kyra Smiley

Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

Kyra holds a B.A. in Environmental Conservation from the University of Colorado and has an Early Childhood Director certification. She loves witnessing the wonder in a child's eyes when they discover they can read and enjoys laughing out loud every day. Kyra chose St. Anne's because each time she walks on campus, she sees boundless possibilities. Her favorite children’s books are the Piggy and Gerald series by Mo Willems and Creepy Carrots by Aaron Reynolds. In her free time, she enjoys bicycling, fly fishing, hiking, and cooking.

Jim Stephens, P.h.D.

Jim holds a BA in Anthropology from Syracuse University, an MA and PhD in History from Howard University, and an MA in Design and Strategic Innovation from Rocky Mountain School of Art & Design. He chose St. Anne's because he was drawn to its spiritually centered independent school environment. Jim's favorite children's book is Jonathan Livingston Seagull. Outside of work, he is an endurance athlete who trains for long-distance Ironman triathlons.

Emilio Valadez

8th Grade Social Studies, 8th Grade Advisor
Emilio earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Bates College. He is passionate about introducing students to diverse cultures and global histories, with a particular focus on Central America and the Horn of Africa in the 20th century, including Guatemalan and South Sudanese economic history. Emilio also enjoys composing music for piano, guitar, bass, and drums. His current favorite book in his field of research is South Sudan: A Slow Liberation by Edward Thomas.

Jaclyn Weldon

Jaclyn holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Master’s degree from the University of Colorado Denver. She loves her job for the magical moments of early learning and the joy of seeing students experience those “aha” moments when they grasp new concepts. As a former student of St. Anne’s, Jaclyn was drawn back to the school by the outstanding education she received and her desire to be part of the incredible SAES community. She enjoys reading a wide variety of picture books and sharing her love for reading with her students. Outside of work, Jaclyn cherishes time with her family and embraces the mountains through activities like tennis, volleyball, and skiing.

Heather Wirch

4th Grade Teacher
Heather holds a Master’s degree in Elementary Teaching from Aurora University and a Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation with a minor in Adventure Tourism from Winona State University. As a lifelong learner, she is passionate about instilling a love of learning in her students and thrives on the excitement and energy that elementary school students bring each day. Heather was drawn to St. Anne's by the vibrant community and the beautiful natural surroundings of the school grounds. Her favorite children's book is The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. Outside of school, Heather enjoys a range of activities including swimming, biking, hiking, running, traveling, camping, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, reading, and being the best aunt ever.

Mary Wood

3rd Grade Assistant Teacher
Mary attended the University of Northern Colorado, where she majored in Elementary Education. She continued her education with a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and another in Library Sciences from Colorado University. Mary chose St. Anne’s because of its strong community. In her free time, she enjoys reading, crafting, and spending time with her family. This year, Mary plans to travel to Asia with her daughter to visit her son in Japan, her nephew in South Korea, and both current and former students in China.

Glen Worthing

Director of Technology
Glen attended De Anza Junior College and briefly attended San Jose State University, though he did not earn additional degrees. Early in his career, he worked with Mark Wozniak at Apple Computer and later started his own business in 1993 at the age of 23. After leaving CyberCSI in 1999, Glen moved to Oregon and then back to California, where he began working for the University of California, Monterey Bay. It was there that he transitioned into education, eventually finding his passion for working in a technology role at an independent school in Carmel, CA. Glen moved to Colorado and was immediately drawn to St. Anne’s and its community upon meeting Alan Smiley. He loves the outdoors, including hiking, gardening, golfing, skiing, and any other outdoor activities.

Jennifer Worthing, Ed.D.

Head of Lower School
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee, a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration from Tennessee State University. As the Head of Lower School at St. Anne's, she finds great fulfillment in working with students, teachers, and parents to positively impact the school community. She chose St. Anne's for its welcoming and caring environment, strong values, and emphasis on character education. Her favorite children's book is The Candy Dish by Kobi Yamada. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys running, playing tennis, and spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Avery York

Kindergarten Assistant Teacher
Avery holds a B.A. in Environment and Sustainability Studies from Wake Forest University. She enjoys her hands-on and interactive job, which allows her to have fun. Avery chose St. Anne’s because the school's values closely align with her own and remind her of her elementary school in Connecticut. Her favorite children's book is The Animal Hedge. She has a passion for singing, having been in a cappella groups in high school and college, and also enjoys hiking, walking, and listening to music.

Nancy York

1st Grade Teacher
Nancy is thrilled to be spending her 34th year at St. Anne's. She is dedicated to creating a classroom environment where every child feels like they are part of the first-grade family. Nancy believes that every child is unique and learns best when they feel safe, respected, and excited about learning. She finds it especially rewarding to teach students whose parents she has also taught.

Outside of the classroom, Nancy enjoys spending time with her family, including her six grandchildren. She loves to travel, read, and explore the outdoors. Nancy looks forward to a year filled with fun and discovery together with her students.
